Don't be shy speak up!

I've been pottering around Home all morning, checking out the new space and everything.  Everything looks nice and all except there is one thing missing.

Without the usual suspects that I happen to come across from time to time and have a nice chinwag to, I seem to struggle to get any conversation of the majority of Home users.  Any at all! Not even and I kid you not, not even a "hello".

I've been charming, I've been funny, I've always been friendly but I wont resort to changing my avatar to a female for attention, as that's not the kinda attention I'm looking for :smileyvery-happy: but not one person has spoken back.

I just want a hello at the very least :smileysad:

I understand somewhat if ya don't speak English, I suppose I will let you off for that, and if ya truly are too busy to say hello as ya exploring then I guess that is just about ok....just about.

But isn't one of the main points of PlayStation Home is the social aspect, talking and meeting like minded gamers and meeting potential PSN friends to be added?

Come on guys and girls, stop being shy and say hello.  It's nice to be friendly sometimes too ya know .

Is there anything I could do besides changing sex to encourage those around me on Home to actually speak rather than stand gormlessly looking at a wall or NCP or even just dance along to themselves?

Do you guys have more success interacting on Home when ya not with ya Home friends or are you all as guilty as everyone else and refusing to say hi or have a friendly chat to someone random?

Are there better spaces than others for conversations?

What am I missing?

In the words of Bob Hoskins "It's good to talk"

lol Well I already raised that with the Home team, not much more I can do in the meantime in regards to that other than wait for any news or feedback to give back to you guys on that front.  Wish I could fix it myself but I can't.

Well, remember what you said, because in a day or two, I'll have a witty and blistering retort! You'll be devastated THEN!

Or perhaps not lol Either way, this Lord does communiucate and shall communicate with you Homies as well as long as you communicate too.  I'm sure we can all agree It's no fun talking to a brick wall.  I agree that communication is key!

Although back to the point of the thread, communication on the actual PlayStation Home service, any help ya can give me?

Re: Don't be shy speak up!

Ello LR,

I have a small suggestion for your plight – use a female avatar for a bit. You’ll find your chatlog positively bulges with people wanting to talk to you.

Amongst these there will be many helpful people offering tech support – asking whether you have a cam or an active facebook account.  You’ll also find these new friends will offer to swop pictures with you in order to cement your newfound friendship.

You’ll also get lots of lovely Private Messages, you’ll be able to appreciate these far more than I, as I suspect that you mods don’t have the swear filter

Will we be seeing Lady Ross on Home? Possibly, running from a mob in a horrifying gender reversed Benny Hill sequence

lol as I said I wont resort to those dirty tactics.  I don't even want to resort to putting my flashy white Mod text on.  Both count as cheating.  It shouldn't really be such a task to have a two way conversation without the use of cheats

Re: Don't be shy speak up!

lol yes Ross it can be a struggle. without looking like a freak show, or a woman, I tend to get little to no response. the guys honestly act like you're hitting on them if you try to engage them (do they think this is a night club?? ) and people tend to join little cliques of their own and don't respond to you in case it cramps their virtual style. What I mentioned is pretty pathetic, I know, but it's what happens when you give most of the gaming community a virtual world for the first time :smileytongue: considering that I think people are slowly "getting there". I like to say hi to as many people that don't annoy me as possible but many have got a long way to go in returning that favour.
