Aurora: Los Penguini Bros - How to land on 5k point island ???

[ Edited ]

There's a few 5000 point islands on the map, and landing on one gives the 5k Trophy.

What's the best initial glidepath to take, and how many "penguin bodylengths" of distance should you be away from the target, before you start circling to land?  If I can already see the penguin's shadow in the water, I bet it's too late to make course corrections.

Help!

So, nobody knows how to play this game?

Well.. I spent about 5 minutes hovering around the 3k spot, only to eventually land on the ice and slide right into the water.
So, I don't really think I'm fit to give anyone advice in this game. :smileytongue:

It's actually quite easy to do, but quite tricky to explain as it's hard to judge distance etc.

There are two 5k icebergs, one straight ahead from the launch ramp and one to the left behind a tall iceberg. The one straight ahead is a lot easier to land on.
You want to arrive at the ring directly in front of the iceberg as the propulsion runs out and control your decent by pushing the down on the left analog.

Yeah, exactly what Sam said. Just make sure you lose as much speed as possible before attempting so you don't slip off. Use whatever penguin is most comfortable to you (I used the small one, can't remember the name). Practice makes perfect.

I too have a question though: For the trophy/achievement 'Penguini #1', it says play 100 games. Does each 3 round game count as 1 or 3? Thanks in advance:smileyhappy:

Thank you statik.  I'm fairly certain that each 3-round game counts only as "one" game because your final game score is tallied cumulatively over the three rounds.  Also, the store conveniently provides a booklet of 100 tickets among its choices, so there's a hint if anything.

Sam, I have seen your scores and you are doing well.  You are entirely right, controlling one's descent as you land is the key.  What surprises me is though is that some people appear to be getting an amazing 8000 points per round.  I calculated to do that, they would have to obtain the equivalent of 60 rings and green fish and land on the 5k island, each time.  How are they doing this?

I'm still trying to figure out whether it's worthwhile to pick up both speedboosts off the ramp, or none at all.  The amount of boost provided by deploying the parachute also seems to be random for me, not sure how to control that either. :smileysad:

You definitely get more speed if you deploy your parachute early after the jump.
