afaik u need to connect via HDMI for 3D, if the projector has that then in theory it should work

As long as the projector is 3D compatible then there shouldn't be a difference between that and using a normal flat screen TV.

Not sure it will work,

3D has been around for quite a while and the existing 3D Projectors like the Optoma and Acer range need the Nvidia 3D Vision kit for your PC,

LG make the 'worlds first' 3D projector and is soon to go on sale for around $10,000

In theory it should work, if it shows 3D. in over 122mhz and got a HDMI it should be able to show 3D. It is as the old pc screens, if you have a pc monitor with high hz rate you can set it up for 3D.

[ Edited ]

the new 3D games use frame packing and right now this is only supported on hdmi 1.4 devices. if your going to get one look for 1.4 compatibility

The older 3D games will work like avatar as these have a few ways to output that will be supported by the projector. 3D did not have standerds till HDMI 1.4 came out and i got a feeling there will be alot of ***** off guys with 3D Tvs and projectors that cant support this new way to output.

as said above . it needs 1.4. some of the projectors are going really cheap , but dont be fooled as most of them have 1.3 firmware and presume your going to use a pc or something like that which works differntly

Re: Can You use a 3d projector on a ps3 to play 3d games

I know there is away to achieve 3d using ps3 on a 3d ready projector as long as it has hdmi and what brings me to that conclusion is this (sorry for all the info but u have to read all of it)

alright first off you have to use either XpanD's X102 or X103(soon to be released) glasses both of the these glasses are dlp link enabled which means there compatible with both 3d ready dlp tv's and 3d ready projectors and not only that i saw couple different videos from XpanD that explained that are compatible with Nvidia 3d vision also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foYT7ULqdfg if you watch this demonstration around 2:10 they have a 3d ready projector attached to a xbox 360 displaying Avatar the game in 3D  you can tell the 3d is enable because the double images and when i first saw this it threw me because i had no idea 360 had 3D capabilities but now that i've read other articles 360 is capable (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/109/1097427p1.html) so PS3 has to be, not only that hdmi 1.4 is not required to run 3d practically you cannot achieve 1080p 3d,  using hdmi 1.3 you can only achieve 720p but who cares it still 3D. I've also read people who have the 2010 3d ready tv's that downloaded the firmware also had difficulty with the settings,  come to find out you have to download the firmware and than go to video settings to choose 3D and also enable the 3d in the game menu. heres a guide http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1276274018 . I plan on buying the viewsonic pjd6531w projector sometime soon to try it but until than keep trying guys it does work and this is how i know.  http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-General/Avatar-in-3D-on-the-PS3-with-Nvidia-3D-Visi...    If a guy can get the 3d to work on dlp tv using 3d vision glasses than it can work on a dlp projector. One more thing visit 3dvision-blog.com everyday they know everything when it comes to 3D.  hope this helpe

The projector will still need to work with frame packing (part of the HDMI 1.4 spec) or it will not work. All of the new PS3 games use this way to output unlike the older 3D PS3 games that have multiple options for output.

Older PS3 games used side by side and sequential frames as ways to output. The new games use frame packing which is two native frames on top of each other (720p= 1280*1470 resolution). I have not yet see a 3D projector that could support this with out being HDMI 1.4.
